Little Rural Teacher—Volunteer Service Program to Guangdong
農村小老師──粵港義工服務實踐計劃

On July 22-25, three of our students participated in a meaningful volunteer program in remote farmlands of Guangdong. During the trip, students practiced farming in Qingyuan and served the villagers as little rural teachers. Working in a farm was not easy especially for youngsters living in the city. With the help of the local farmers the students ploughed the land and harvested peanuts. They realized how harsh the working conditions of rural farmers were and learned to treasure the food.

To serve the local farmers as a return, our students decided to teach them useful first-aid skills. They realized that the farmers there could easily get hurt and that they did not know how to handle the injuries. As little rural teachers, they taught the farmers how to handled wounds properly and what proper actions to take in case of heat strokes and nosebleeds. The farmers were attentive in the lessons and they appreciated the students' effort. With such a meaningful experience, our students truly understand the spirit of helping others and were all ready to devote themselves more in serving their community as well as their country.
