S1 New Students' Induction Programme

Aiming to introduce the general routine and culture of TWGHs S. C. Gaw Memorial  College, a 2-week Induction & Bridging Programme is specially designed for the new Secondary One students.  The programme started on 15th August, 2011.

To help students preparing for the new stage of learning, a JS1 Bridging Handbook (yellow booklet) has been distributed together with a JS1 Student Orientation Handbook—“My Personal Profile” 我的手冊 (blue booklet).  The Bridging Handbook (yellow booklet) contains exercises that introduce to the students the compulsory subjects in junior secondary such as Integrated Humanities & Integrated Science as well as vocabulary & classroom language in English.  The JS1 Student Orientation Handbook—“My Personal Profile” 我的手冊 (blue booklet) contains important information regarding the College such as Form-based Pastoral Care, Invitational Education, school information. school rules, clubs & societies, planning log & diaries, etc..

The Induction Programme themed ‘Let’s Fly, Love & Excel’ is divided into two sessions, the morning session includes life skills training and foot drilling practice.  In the afternoon, it is a school adaptation programme organized by the School Social Worker.  A Passing-out Ceremony will be held on 19th August, 2011.

The EMI Bridging and Multiple Intelligences Education Programme is again divided into two parts, in the morning session includes language classes, Integrated Humanities and Science lessons conducted by teachers, while the afternoon session includes sports and aesthetic training. We offer various sports courses that are conducted by experienced facilitators or coaches, such as basketball, soccer, table-tennis, fencing, badminton, volleyball, marching band, music class and dance. The Induction & Bridging Programme will come to an end on 25th August, 2011.  To further consolidate students’ learning in Using English as Instruction, an EMI Home Learning Kit has been given to students.  At the same time, a web-based EMI Learning Package has been uploaded onto the school website.
