S7A Leung Koon Wing, Kelvin, a keen learner in English, obtained the following award on 8 Oct 2011:

'TVNews Awards—Award I (Top 1 student for Kwai Tsing District)'

'TVNews' is a yearly online English program aiming at encouraging students to learn English Language and Liberal Studies via authentic multi-media English news clips and online exercises. The mode of operation is self-study but English teachers receive student performance data regularly to supervise their progress. Students' performance is calculated by the number of exercises and tests completed and how well they are completed. It runs from October 2010 to July 2011 last academic year.

Award I, which is bestowed to the Top 1 student in the District, is a prestigious award. It is typically given to students from respectable EMI schools around Hong Kong. The awardees are also mostly female students, renowned for English learning. Kelvin, being a male student from a non-EMI school, breaking into the circle of awards is a rare exception.

'There are students from my class whose English are better, but the award delightedly goes to me. It's probably because I insist on learning English persistently' revealed Kelvin.

Selected classes from S4-7 at S.C.Gaw will continue to join TVNews this academic year. Hopefully there will be another Kelvin breaking into the circle of awards again!
