The 22nd Annual School Swimming Gala was held at the Shing Mun Valley Swimming Pool on Wednesday, 12th October, 2011. With good sportsmanship, strong house spirit and the school flag flying proudly, our opening of the Annual Swimming Gala was declared by our Principal, Ms Agnes Tang. In the opening address, Ms Tang quoted the words of Vincent Thomas Lombardi, "The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather in a lack of will." She reminded students that the key to success is not only their physical potential, but most importantly, it is their will and determination to win. The famous words of Steve Jobs were used to conclude her speech --- "Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish." (求知若飢，虛心若愚）.

The participation was overwhelming --- It was delighted to see that S. C. Gawers once again showed enthusiastic participation in swimming events. There were more than 200 participants taking part in over 50 events. This could really reflect the motivation to seize opportunities to learn and the eagerness to reach new heights through accepting challenges.
Excitement and enthusiasm mounted as the cheering team chant swept across the Swimming Pool. There were individual races in Front Crawl, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly as well as Medley Relay and Freestyle Relay. This year, many old records were broken and one ones made! They are Grade A 25 meters Backstroke, Grade A 50 meters Freestyle, Breaststroke, Backstroke and Butterfly as well as Grade A 100 meters Freestyle. Let us congratulate ourselves for all the prizes won and the records broke!
Competitors exhibited skill and technique in the water, while the stands reverberated with cheers from the supportive houses. A perfect example of vertical learning – as house spirit grew with Secondary 1 to 7, one and all shouting with joy at the mere sight of a house cap in the water! What an excitement!
It is indeed our greatest honour to have Ms Yiu Fan, The Principal of Father Cucchiara Memorial School, to address the gathering and present the prizes. Also, parents were present to lend their magnificent support to the participants. All students persevere unremittingly and try to do their very best in the activities they engage in and make the Annual Swimming Gala a remarkable and extraordinary one.

第廿二屆水運會
2011年10月12日為本校第二十二屆水運會。當日學生們都抖擻精神，齊集城門谷游泳池，一起參與本屆水運會。當日氣氛非常熱鬧，在水上各參賽泳手都一展水上英姿；在看台上，各社啦啦隊落力地為社員打氣，吶喊助威之聲此起彼落。當日邀請了郭怡雅神父紀念學校校長姚芬女士致閉幕詞及頒獎。水運會在學生歡聲笑語中圓滿結束。
嘉賓感受：
- 游泳是一項全面的運動，這次水運會既給與同學鍛煉的機會，亦可讓同學培養體育精神。
- 泳池的氣氛很好、非常熱鬧，比賽的健兒們都是訓練有素的。
- 各社的運動員及啦啦隊也非常落力，我覺得他們最為積極。
