On 13th December 2011, all S.4 students visited the Hong Kong Museum of Art during their OLE lesson. The visit introduced to students the many forms of prehistoric Chinese arts including clay, jade, gold and lacquered objects that intimately related to the aesthetics, outlook and material life of the Chinese people. To counteract students' general lack of familiarity with Chinese arts, students were encouraged to relate arts to life experience and think about how a book, a painting, a porcelain, a tile, a bracelet or a pendant could play a part in the development of Chinese arts and culture. Students gained a deep understanding through analyzing and discussing the objects during the visit.

中國藝術豐富多彩，尤其是廣義的中國藝術，既有表現個人藝術造詣的傳統書法和繪畫，亦涵蓋許多材料質地不同、藝術性和實用性兼備的作品。本課程將以專題形式，介紹不同材質的中國藝術傳統，探討它們所屬材質的特點、藝術特色與文化含義。內容從史前及青銅器文化起，經歷代的繪畫、書法、雕塑、佛教藝術，以及建築、金銀器、瓷器等看中國文化藝術之演變、流派與歷史文化背景，透過分析代表性作品，本課程希望引導同學欣賞中國藝術的特質，了解中國文化的底蘊，並提高同學的藝術修養。
