S.1 Cheung Chau Adventure Day
中一長州挑戰日
On 21st January 2012, S.1 students participated in the programme Cheung Chau Adventure Day jointly organized by Peer Group Guidance and school social workers. The activity aimed not only at widening their horizons outside classroom but also fostering their social and emotional development that would facilitate a smooth and easy transition from primary to junior secondary education. It also encouraged students to be proactive and positive.
On the Adventure Day, S.1 students and their group leaders faced different challenges in Cheung Chau such as taking photo with foreigners, group dancing in the assigned checkpoint, exploring Cheung Po Tsai Cave, and trying famous and tasty foods in Cheung Chau. Students set goals and planned their routes. They were delighted to share their feelings and views once they did every task successfully. At the same time, learning beyond the classroom does not simply apply to outing, excursion and day trip alone. Furthermore, service rendered by the Elder Brothers and Sisters is a vivid testimony of service learning which is promoted as one of the essential learning experiences for the S. C. Gawers.
