S.1 Field Study—Visiting Central and Sheung Wan
中一級戶外考察──中環及上環

All S.1 students left their classroom to have a field study in Central and Sheung Wan on 24th April, 2012. During the study, students were divided into groups. They were assigned tasks to explore the land use in Central, the problems of a CBD and the inner city problems in Sheung Wan. Students were enthusiastic when they asked passer-by opinions concerning the pollution problem, traffic congestion problem and living and working conditions with the questionnaires they preset. They also marked the buildings and clarified the land use in different areas. Some of them were astonished when they asked the prices of luxurious items in fashion shops in CBD while others found it interesting when they looked into the goods sold in dried-food grocery stores in Sheung Wan. Some students claimed that it was the first time they came to Central and Sheung Wan. Students had already learned from textbook the knowledge about CBD and inner city and it was more impressive when they had the chance to stay there with a 3-dimensional perspective to watch, smell, hear and feel. After that, students would return to school, share their feelings and integrate what they had learned from the field study into their group projects.
