S3 Parents’ Day on the Choice of Subjects for Senior Secondary
中三級高中選科家長日
Close partnership between the family and the school is a key to our students’ success. On 20 May, 2012 our S3 Parents’ Day was held. As their children have to select New Senior Secondary subjects, their response to the meeting has been overwhelming. Parents not only could make use of this opportunity to meet the Class Teachers, the meeting also highlighted some important issues such as the procedure and guidelines of the S4/SS1 choice of subjects, mock exercise in subject selection, criteria governing academic attainment and performance assessment. And on hand, the Principal gave information and answered questions raised by the parents. The support to enhance students’ learning effectiveness did not stop here. A wide range of remedial and enhancement measures such Mock TSA and follow-up tutorials will help our S3 students to boost their learning motivation. Parents expressed their full support to the school. Once again, all participants, i.e., school, parents and teachers reaffirmed the deeply collaborative nature of SCGMC Education
This meeting aimed at briefing S3 students and their parents the process of this trial subject selection exercise and the distribution of the Mock Subject Selection Form. As the explanation has been clear enough, there was no questions as to the Q&A session before the end of the meeting.
The School would like to thank all the S3 parents and students for attending the NSS briefing conducted on a Sunday morning. As always, parents and students are very supportive of the curriculum framework designed to cater to the interests, abilities and needs of the student body. More sessions will be conducted to familiarise parents and students with the NSS Curriculum and to help them make informed and relevant choices as our students reach the senior secondary level.
