Road Safety Talk—Cycling Safety
道路安全講座──單車安全

To promote the awareness of Cycling Safety, a meaningful Road Safety Talk on Cycling was given to our students

Sergeant Ricky Cheung Siu Fai from the Road Safety Office, Traffic, New Territories South of Hong Kong Police Force, who is also an experienced cyclist, led the event by introducing the elevated importance of cycling with qualified protective gears as well as strict compliance of concerned traffic rules.  As an enthusiastic cyclist, Sergeant Cheung was more than delighted to know cycling has its popularity rapidly increased over the years.  As a representative from the Road Safety Office, he pointed out that recent figures have shown a significant increase in casualties from cyclist traffic accidents which, he added, 'most are avoidable & should the riders pay a little bit more on safety'.

Followed by the sharing from Dr Tony Cheung, Regional Commander NTS, Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol, and a cycling enthusiast with over three decades of experience. Besides exciting moments as a swift rider, Dr Cheung comprehensively explained to our students the mechanical composition and dynamic of a road bike.

Amazed by the interest our students has shown toward cycling sport, Dr Cheung announced in the talk that he will fully support SCGMC with equipment and training to form its own cycling team of volunteers. The team is expected to form within months with selected S. C. Gawers. They will be in close cooperation with the HKRSP under the supervision of Dr Cheung, to further promote the awareness of road safety, especially for cyclists.
