S.C. Gaw students' problem-solving abilities, mathematics as well as artistic talents are again exhibited in the outstanding results obtained in the following two activities.
3 Secondary Two Students (2A Cheng Hiu Bun, 2A Chou Ka Ying and 2A Ki Cheong Yau) got a Silver Award and two Bronze Awards in the Secondary Two Group of the 2012 Hong Kong Problem-Solving Olympiad, which was organized by the Olympiad Education Association (OEA) and the Hong Kong Community College. In this activity, students' problem-solving skills, deduction and comprehension abilities were assessed.
Another student, 3A Lam Sim Yee, won the Ten Best Designers Award in a Territory-wide Mathematics Poster Design Competition for the 30th Hong Kong Mathematics Olympiad (HKMO), which was organized by the Mathematics Education Section, Education Bureau. The aim of the competition was to promote the 30th HKMO which is to be held in 2013. Elements of Mathematics had to be demonstrated in the poster design.
