“Wise Ride" Cycling Safety Promotion Campaign

The School Principal officiated at the “Wise Ride” Cycling Safety Promotion Campaign on 15th July 2012 at the Amphitheatre of Sha Tin Central Park, jointly organized by Sha Tin District Council, Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol and Hong Kong Police Force. 5 members of the School Road Safety Patrol took part in this meaningful event.
Officiating guests included Dr Eric CHENG, MH, OStJ, JP, Chairman of the Road Safety Campaign Committee; Acting Chief Superintendent (Traffic), Ms Angela Ng; Senior Superintendent (Traffic New Territories South), Mr Patrick Laidler; Chief Superintendent, Sha Tin District Commander, Mr CHAU Ping-sun. Chairman of Traffic and Transport Committee, Sha Tin District Council, Mr YIU Ka-chun; Convenor of Working Group on Road Safety, Traffic and Transport Committee of Sha Tin District Council, Mr CHENG Cho-kwong; Senior Assistant Commissioner, New Territories South Regional Commander, Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol, Mr CHEUNG Chun-hung; Staff Officer, Auxiliary Medical Service, Mr LAU Man-kwong, MH; Chairman of A Drop of Life Limited, Miss Jackie Lee, as well as our School Principal, Miss TANG Wai-Chun, Agnes.
The audience was entertained with a variety of entertainment shows which included performance by Mr YU Sum-yee, the artistic cycling men's double gold medallist and sharing by a professional cycling coach on cycling safety tips. The number of participants had reached a record high level of about 500 people and the hot weather did not affect the enthusiasm of the participants. The event reached its climax when the members of Road Safety Team of Traffic NTS led over the representatives of supportive parties and cyclists on stage to make a pledge for the support of “Wise Ride” Scheme. A Handover Ceremony of “Cycling Safety” campaign from the Road Safety Team (RST) of Traffic NTS to RST Traffic NTN was officially conducted. After the ceremony, members of the “Wise Ride” Scheme helped distributing leaflets and souvenirs along the cycling track to promote the message of cycling safety.
