Chinese General Chamber of Commerce Guangdong (Heyuan) Study Trip
香港中華總商會廣東 (河源) 之旅
More than a hundred Tung Wah students were invited to a study tour to Guangdong, Heyuan from 7th to 11th August, 2012. The trip was organized by the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce and supported by Fusion International Holdings Ltd (福新國際集團有限公司). Nine S.C. Gaw students, led by a teacher, joined the trip.
During the whole journey, students settled in Fusion Industrial Park (福新工業園). The Park is a huge piece of land integrated with factories, residential buildings, hotels and recreational facilities. For many workers, their whole families live there. For the first two days, students had the chance to work in the factory. There, they were assigned to different workplaces and were taught the production methods. To each student, such an experience was unforgettable as it was the first job-related working experience in the mother country.
For the other days, students visited Heyuan Dinosaur Museum (河源恐龍博物館), the highest Musical Fountain in Asia and the Green Lake (萬綠湖) – the source of Dongjiang water to Hong Kong. Then students traveled to Longchuan (龍川). They toured round Sujiawei (蘇家圍) and Tuo City (佗城學宮), which enhanced their understanding of the culture of Hakka and the examination systems in ancient China.
To students, this journey is memorable. There are pre-historical knowledge on dinosaurs, historical study of Longchuan, cultural study of Hakka, geographical learning on Dongjiang, economic understandings of industrial park, and the most important of all, the working experience in mainland China. Students know more about the life of people in China and feel closer to our mother country.
