Teachers' Day—In appreciation of the dedicated teachers at S. C. Gaw
“A good teacher is like a candle - it consumes itself to light the way for others .” The Teachers' Day held on 13th September 2012 was indeed a great opportunity for S. C Gawers to express their heartfelt gratitude to the teachers. Thanks to all our beloved teachers for their guidance and support throughout the year. Representatives of each form thanked our teachers by singing, dancing and even acting! Their wonderful performances brought happiness to the whole school, at the same time reminded us of the hard work of all teachers. The Student Union sincerely presents flowers and chocolates to all teachers. We wish all teachers good health and a Happy Teachers’ Day!

‘Love our School & Respect our Teachers’
Dear Students,
To promote the tradition of respecting our teachers, a “Teachers’ Day” has been fixed on September 10 each year. Just like last year, the Parent-Teacher Association and the Students’ Union will be organizing activities to celebrate this very special occasion¾¾the Teachers’ Day.
We have teachers who not only possess professional knowledge and skills, but are also determined to serve with perseverance and professionalism. At the threshold of the 21st century, your teachers have devoted much time and energy to teaching, fostering good relation with you, as well as organizing life-wide learning activities which aim at promoting among you all-round attainment in the domains of ethics, intellect, physique, social skills and aesthetics. Their devotion and dedication well deserve every gratitude and respect of students, parents and indeed every member of the community.
‘Respect for teachers’ is an excellent Chinese tradition. Your teachers are like candles. They light up your life. They tender you with boundless love and give you inspiring advice. I sincerely hope that all students will appreciate the good-intentioned efforts of your teachers and be grateful to them for their teaching, care and guidance.
To express our gratitude to our teachers, I would urge every one of you to get involved in the celebration of the Teachers’ Day. You may, from time to time, organize various activities to express your appreciation openly. You may talk, communicate or extend your best regards to your teachers by whatever means like telephone, e-mail, letter, or send goodwill cards and flowers. You may also hold lunch-time campus radio and concerts and which teachers, students and parents can participate. Moreover, you must greet your teachers whenever or wherever you meet them. As a token of respect and appreciation, simple greetings like ‘good morning’, ‘good afternoon’ or ‘good bye’ is good enough.
Certainly, our respect for teachers does not just start and end on one day. But it is on this special occasion that we can convey the message and strengthen our awareness of respect for teachers.
May I take this opportunity to call upon you to join me in expressing our heartfelt gratitude to your teachers. The best way to show your respect for your teachers is simple, that is, by trying your best and living up to the virtuous expectation of our Student Motto, viz. ‘Diligence, Frugality, Loyalty and Faithfulness’. Most importantly, going in line with spirit of the school yearly theme of 2012-13, that is, ‘Be Self-directed, Self-discipline and Compassionate’. Wishing you all good health and happiness. Thank you.
Yours sincerely
