Third Form-based Pastoral Care Activity – Healthy Sleep Lecture & S.3 Career Guidance
第三次級本導育活動 - 健康睡眠講座及中三升學輔導工作坊
On 23rd November, 2012, a seminar regarding the issue of healthy sleep was co-organized by the Life Education Department and the Board of Student Support for S.1, S.2, S.4, S.5 and S.6 students of our school. Dr. Albert Martin Li from the Chinese University of Hong Kong was invited to be a guest speaker for this seminar. Dr. Li introduced the importance of healthy sleep to all students. The absence of insufficient sleep affects our cognitive functioning, emotional health, and physical health. Sleep disorders such as insomnia and sleep apnea may lead to chronic fatigue, irritability, depression, forgetfulness, stress, obesity, and high blood pressure.
After attending the seminar, students realize that their current unhealthy sleep habit will pose a great threat to their health. In order to maintain a healthy lifestyle with good quality sleep, they should not put too much time on playing video games or chatting online.
Meanwhile, S.3 students attended a seminar organized by the Department of Career. They played games and completed exercises under the guidance of careers teachers and homeroom teachers during the seminar. Through activities, they had a better understanding of their own personalities and talents. This enables students to make better choices on their subjects and plan their careers carefully for the foreseeable future.
