Parents’ Day cum the Election of the 9th PTA Executive Committee was held on 25th November, 2012. The major objective of the Parents’ Day was to foster closer home-school cooperation. There were almost six hundred parents and students came to school. The hall activity began with the Principal’s welcoming speech to all the parents. Our Principal pointed out the major challenges our students faced in the twenty-first century. She also stressed that nurturing our students to be well equipped to face these challenges is our utmost importance.

Then the Vice-chairman of PTA, Mr. Tse Kwok-wai reported the activities held by the PTA last year and Vice-principal Mr. Tam Yiu-wang gave the financial reported of the PTA. Afterwards, the election of the 9th PTA Executive Committee began. The eight candidates were introduced one-by-one and parents and teachers could vote six of them.

When the counting of votes was on the way, a talk was given by social worker Mr. Lai. He gave advice to parents how to get along well with their children. Parents were reminded that a balanced combination of appreciation and disciplinary actions is the key to harmonious parent-children relationship.

At last, parent-homeroom teacher meetings were held in the classrooms. Teachers and parents exchanged views on students’ school performance. Through the mutual cooperation between parents and teachers, we hope to create students a better studying atmosphere so that they can benefit from the education at SCGMC. The meeting ended at 12:30 pm and parents left with satisfaction on the arrangement of school.
