To encourage our creative students to learn from their daily life experience, the Parent-Teacher Association of our school organized a ¡§Lunar New Year Fair cum Health Info Day¡¨ on 25th February, 2013.

There were 17 fair booths prepared by students from S.1 to S.4. Early in the morning, students returned to school to prepare for the fair. They made their products and decorated their booths. They collaborated with their classmates harmoniously in order to run a successful business with profit for their class.

The opening ceremony started at 12:30pm. This year it was our school¡¦s honour to have Mr. Young Kai Kong, Senior Inspector of Police, Mr. Chan Siu Man and Ms Tam Wai Chun, Tsing Yi District Councillors and Mr. Wong Wai Kit and Leung Kar Ming, Tsuen Wan District Councillors to be our guests.

The ceremony started when two police officers marched to the venue on their motorcycles. We were thankful to the Traffic New Territories South, Hong Kong Police Force who offered us such a wonderful and marvelous opening. Then Mr. Tse Kwok Wai, PTA Chairman presented a welcome speech. He appreciated the cooperation among students in preparation of the fair booths and the efforts done by teachers in supporting their students. Afterwards, there were representatives from each class to promote their products. Followed by the great performances from the Martial Arts Team and the Marching Band Team, there was a ¡¥Salute Discharging¡¦ rite that marked the beginning of ¡§Lunar New Year Fair cum Health Info Day¡¨.

Besides, our students, parents and residents of the district were invited to take part in this special event. Students tried their best to push sales. They introduced the advantages of their products to every potential customer who visited their booths. Students developed different marketing strategies. Since many products were tiny decorative stationery items, students walked around the venue with their goods in order to attract more customers. In order to sell their products out, they pushed the prices of their products down.

Furthermore, there were meaningful and creative game booths ran by our students on the message of ¡¥smoke-free¡¦ to the community. Moreover, there was a stall game arranged by the Traffic Police Force that disseminated the healthy message on the road safety for people. On the podium, there were some interesting lantern riddles. The elderly were invited to play the game. Our student helpers worked with them to solve the riddles. Our students were surprised to see that many old people were smart and clever despite their difficulty of locomotion and reading. There were bazaar counters selling the most delicious and popular Chinese Traditional snacks prepared by the Parent-Teacher Association. There were counters selling Popcorn and Cotton candy. There were a large variety of activities for people to enjoy. The Fair ended at 4:00 pm and many of our trade booths earn fabulous profits.

By running the fair stall business, students learnt how to run a good business and improve their organizational capacity. Moreover, the meaningful and creative game booths operated by students were successful in spreading some healthy messages to the community. There is no doubt that this remarkable activity has brought all students, parents, teachers and visitors a joyful, unforgettable and meaningful memory.
