Staff Development – Questioning Techniques
教師發展 - 提問技巧

Questioning is an important technique in classroom communication and student-teacher interaction. To enhance the questioning techniques of our teachers, a staff development activity was held on 27th March, 2013.

The workshop was conducted by our vice-principal, Mr. Tam YW. The program started when teachers completed a questionnaire on how they used questioning skills in classrooms. Then Mr. Tam introduced different types of questions with the aid of the Bloom's taxonomy of learning domains including knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis and evaluation to the teachers. He further introduced various common ways used by teachers to ask student questions. At last, the teachers were divided into groups and discussed some samples of teaching materials. Here, they used what they learnt for the sample materials and realized how the techniques could be used in different subjects. After attending this interactive workshop, teachers have acknowledged the importance of questioning skills and are willing to adopt the techniques of questioning in classrooms.
