Staff Development Day — A Reflection on the Major Areas of Concern and Looking into the Future
教師發展日 ── 反思過去、共創未來

A staff development day was held on 5th June 2013. All teachers gathered in the English Learning Centre to look back what we had achieved in the year and looked into the future. Before the reflection, there was a demonstration about GALE Virtual Library. Staff from the company illustrated how e-learning could be achieved through the use of online virtual library system. Teachers admitted that it was a very convenient way to promote reading by using the new system.

Our reflection started when our Vice-principal, Mr. Tam introduced the major areas of concern of the year. Then department and panel heads delivered a general review of the work of their subjects and departments under the SWOT approach. Teachers jotted down the relevant points related to the major concerns that would be discussed in the coming section.

After the lunch break, teachers gathered together again at 1:30pm. Teachers were divided into groups and discussed the major areas of concern of the coming year. There were teachers who facilitated the discussion and recorders who wrote down the points on a large poster. Then representatives from each group presented their conclusions and shared their ideas with all the colleagues. After that, we developed the major areas of concern for the coming year.

The development day ended at 4:00 pm. Even though we were really tired, our spirit was high. We knew what to do and where to go and we had confidence to develop a better future for both the school and our students.
