On 27th June, 2013, the S5 Combined Science (Biology) students has attended a half-day Fish Pond Ecotour organized by Hong Kong Bird Watching Society in Yuen Long Tai Sang Wai.

The volunteers from the Hong Kong Bird Watching Society introduced to studnts the common waterbirds such as Great Egrets (大白鷺), Little Egrets (小白鷺) and Little Grebe (小) discovered in the fish ponds. Then, a fisherman explained to us the management works of a fish pond. The students have the opportunity to feed the fish and throw a cast net for harvesting.

Due to socio-economic forces and pressures, many fishponds in Hong Kong has been sold or abandoned. Through this Ecotour, students understand how important these local fish ponds are to our local wildlife and the Hong Kong of people.
