Warmest congratulations to the Dance Sports Team of SCGMC for achieving brilliant results by representing Hong Kong in the 1st Perak International Open Dance Championships 2013 at Malaysia --- 2 First-ever Champions of Hong Kong in Team Standard & Team Latin Formation Dance Competitions, Lo Shuk Ting & Cheung Ching Kwok were awarded the 2nd & the 3rd Places in Amateur Rising Star & Amateur Open. 17 students got 237 prizes in Individual events, of which 72 were Champions! What a marvellous performance! 東華三院吳祥川紀念中學學校體育舞蹈組代表香港在馬來西亞第一屆霹靂國際舞蹈公開大賽勇奪多項大獎載譽歸來，其中在集體舞隊際賽囊括標準及拉丁兩個組別冠軍，開香港先河；盧淑婷及張晴國同學分別榮獲單人標準舞及拉丁舞冠軍、青少年16歲以下標準舞及拉丁舞雙冠軍、業餘新秀賽第二名及業餘公開賽第三名；另外17位同學更在標準和拉丁兩個組別分組賽獲得個人獎237 項，包括72項冠軍，可喜可賀！學校體育舞蹈組代表隊成員能發揮潛能，拓寬視野，實有賴東華三院第一副主席施榮恆校監的慷慨贊助，鼎力支持，才能獲得如此驕人成績；不但為東華舞蹈的發展開展新的一頁，同時亦為港爭光！

1st Perak International Open Dance Championships 2013 at Malaysia

馬來西亞第一屆霹靂國際舞蹈公開大賽

From 3rd August to 5th August 2013, 17 members of the Dance Sports Team of SCGMC representing Hong Kong to go for the the 1st Perak International Open Dance Championships 2013 at Ipoh, Malaysia which was organized by World Dance Organization and JJ & Alice Danceland. In the competitions held on 4th August, our budding and talented dancers achieved very brilliant results in various events in both Standard Dance and Latin Dance Divisions as well as Team and Individuals.

Our Dance Sports Team has achieved 2 First-ever Champions in Team Standard & Team Latin Formation Dance Competitions for Hong Kong. This was the first time in the history of Hong Kong Schools to have a School Dancing Team to win the Champions in Formation Dance in Team --- it is an even more record breaking moment when our team grasped the 2 Team Champions in both the Standard Dance and the Latin Dance Divisions. What an epoh-making moment for the development of Dance Sports in Hong Kong!

Our 2 most promising dancers, Lo Shuk Ting & Cheung Ching Kwok (ranked first in Hong Kong and were the recipient of numerous champions in many international open competiitons --- they have already been awarded 24 international prizes in the 2 International Champions in Milan, Italy and London, UK in January and June 2013) were awarded the 2nd & the 3rd Places in Amateur Open & Amateur Rising Star by beating many very competent contestants of high potential from different countries and regions.

As the recipients of numerous prizes, local, regional & international, our Dance Sports Team did perform very well at the 1st Perak International Open Dance Championships 2013. Altogether our 17 dancers won 237 prizes in Individual events in both Standard Dance and Latin Dance Divisions, of which 72 were Champions, 30 First Runners-up & 35 Second Runners-up! What a marvellous performance!

S. C. Gaw Dance Sports Team’s superb talent was recognized in various high premium territory-wide, regional and international open competitions. What has been demonstrated by winning the first-ever Hong Kong Champions in Team Standard & Team Latin Formation Dance Competitions by a Hong Kong School Team --- An absolute testimony on ‘How versatile student of S. C. Gaw is’ and the all-round education Tung Wah students receive!

What makes this dancing miracle of S. C. Gaw a reality, we would like to extend our most heartfelt thanks to our School Supervisor, the 1st Vice-Chairman of TW Board of Directors, Mr Sze Wing Hang for his generous sponsorship so as to enable our talented dancers to further stretch their potentials in another international open dance championships. The unfailing support of our School Supervisor to asethetic development and the balanced attainment of S. C. Gawers and Tung Wah students has prompted this remarkable achievements of Dance Sports at TWGHs S. C. Gaw Memorial College in a short span of less than 2 years! And equally a pride to Dance Sports development of Hong Kong as well!

第一屆霹靂國際國標舞公開大賽昨日在近打河畔宴會廳舉行，舞者展現精湛舞技，叫觀眾看得目不轉睛。

這項比賽由World Dance Organization (WDO) & JJ&Alice Danceworld主辦。共有166組 (超過 300) 參賽者，來自馬來西亞、香港、新加坡和印尼。

分標准舞拉丁舞2組別

比賽主要分為標准舞和拉丁舞兩個組別。主要組別再分為多個組別進行，包括9歲以下、10歲以下、12歲以下、16歲以下、40歲以上、集体舞、業余舞者賽等。

參賽者展現的舞蹈包括華爾滋、探戈舞、狐步舞、快步、恰恰舞、桑巴、倫巴、捷舞、斗牛舞。

大會邀請來自各國和地區包括荷蘭、香港、紐西蘭、中國、保加利亞、印尼、新加坡和馬來西亞的專業評審前來做評判。

鍾儀柱：跳舞成國際活動

JJ&Alice Danceworld舞蹈學院院長鍾儀柱致詞表示，這是該學院第一次在霹靂州舉辦國際舞蹈比賽，感激各單位的協助，使活動順利進行。

他說，過去人們認為跳舞只是愛好，陶冶性情和作為運動，但隨著時代的發展，跳舞已成為國際性活動。

“舞蹈凝聚了許多愛好跳舞的人鑽研、深造，漸漸發展成國際化的健康活動，成為世界性的項目。”

馬塞爾：當評審感光榮

亞洲國標舞協會主席兼大會總評審馬塞爾致詞說，他對受邀成為這場比賽的評審感到光榮。

他說，有幸可與來自十個亞洲國家，熱誠於交際舞的人士合作，是一件非常難得的事。

他也說，這項比賽受到很多年輕和具熱誠舞者的支持。
