Schools in Kwai Ching District and the Police have been working closely to strengthen the effort in youth crime prevention. On 20th January, Liaison Network between the Police and Secondary School Discipline Teams in Tsuen Wan and Kwai Tsing District hosted its annual seminar. Our Principal and teachers attended the seminar and shared our experience of student guidance and discipline work with other participants. The seminar began with a grand opening ceremony. Following a tea gathering a police officer reported on juvenile delinquency in the district in 2015. There was a slight decline in juvenile crime and the main offences committed were wounding and serious assault, shop theft and serious drug offences. The afternoon then continued with a talk on student suicide by Dr Chan Chia Lu. The talk featured the ways to identify a student who is at risk for suicide and the support to those at-risk students. Teachers familiarized themselves with the warning signs of student suicide and became more aware of early detection of students who are dealing with emotional distress or crisis. The seminar ended with a lively question and answer session and a vote of thanks by Principal Ho Moon Tim, the chairman of the Liaison Network.
