Lunar New Year Fair 2016

To celebrate the Lunar New Year, a Fair was held by the PTA of our school on 3 February 2016. The whole school was filled with joy and fun. Early in the morning, students returned to school to decorate their counters. There were altogether 16 sales counters prepared by S.1 to S.4 students. After months of preparation, students worked together to make their own arts and crafts. Goods were sold to the visitors, teachers and other schoolmates.

The opening ceremony of the Fair started at 1:00pm. It was our honour to have District Council Members of the Kwai Tsing District including Ms Tam Wai-chun, MH, Ms Lam Chui-ling, Nancy, MH, Mr Lee Chi-keung, Alan, MH and Mr Wong Yiu-chung, MH, the Chairman of Tsing Yi (North East) Area Committee, Mr Lee Wing Kuen, the Principal of Tivoli Kindergarten, Ms. Heidi Tsui , Choice English School & Kindergarten (Tsing Yi Branch), Ms Liu Fung-heung, Sergeants of Hong Kong Police, Ms Chow C.L. and Ms Chan M.W., Chairman of our school PTA, Mr Tse Kwok-wai and parents to be our guests.

To begin with, Mr. Tse, chairman of our school PTA provided his welcome speech to all visitors and students. He appreciated the cooperation of students in preparing the sales counters and the works of all teachers in supporting their students. Then, the atmosphere was aroused by the great performance of our Marching Band, Chinese Dance Team and Martial Arts Team. At 1:45 pm, the Fair counters officially opened. Students and visitors began to shop around searching their favourite souvenirs. In addition to the regular sales counters, there were 4 games counters run by the S.5 students, stall games concerning healthy information and ICAC. Besides, there were counters run by the PTA selling souvenirs and desserts. Interesting lantern riddles were set in the school podium on the 1/F. We invited elderly visitors to play the games and our student helpers worked with the elderly to solve the riddles.

The final program was a Lucky Draw in which some teachers, staff and students got the prizes. At 4:30pm, the Fair came to an end. Most visitors and students enjoyed the games and were able to get their favourite products. To students, the Fair was meaningful and valuable. They were able to cooperate with their classmates to practise business activities which cultivated their skills of cooperation, organization and management. There is no doubt that the Fair has brought all students an unforgettable and meaningful memory in their school life.
